This is so cliche,
but life is short.
Too short to wait.
Too short to wait for things to happen.
Too short to wait for the answer.
To not know,
to not ask
because you’re afraid.
Life is too short
to not demand
for something you know you want,
but afraid because there is a 50% chance that the demand will be rejected.
We are such fragile
And we live most of our lives not able to follow the heart
because we always choose to follow the mind instead.
Our mind uses logic and learned rules to protect our heart.
It’s been doing that for too long now,
protecting us from the pain, both physical and emotional
because our bodies react to both the same way
because heartbreak is not just a metaphor,
and you know that too well.
We tell ourselves things we think we should think.
We tell ourselves to be independent
we don’t need anyone else
we are fine on our own
when our heart is slowly being pushed into the dark corner
curled up in a little ball
from the lack of connection
a connection with her own desires
her own shadows
she is slowly turning frail
but still uses the last ounce of energy left in her
to tell you that she is alone
that she needs to be fed
to be clothed
so she can grow into a warm glow
that would slowly light up that dark corner.
Why do we want to keep that corner dark?
Why do we want to keep things hidden under our beds?
Why do we always try to hide when that’s all part of us
part of me.
Why are we always so afraid that we will not be accepted?
Why are we afraid when we haven’t even tried?
Life is too short to not admit your own truth.
Life is too short to not admit that all you want is love.
Life is too short to not admit that you want to have someone you can give your love to.
Life is too short to not admit that you want to have someone who would want to do the same with you.
Life is too short to not admit that you want to be free to say what you want
be who you want to be
do what feeds your soul.
Life is too short to not be the best.
Life is too short to not travel to that place you’ve always wanted to visit
Life is too short to not tell that person you love them.
Life is too short to not get that tattoo.
Life is too short to not take that risk and love again even though you’ve been hurt really bad for loving too hard.
Life is too short to not love too hard.
Life is too short to not grab her hand and dance in the rain.
Life is too short to not tell him that all you want to do is make love to him all night.
Life is too short to care about how they’ll react to what you offer them.
Life is too short to not wear that loud red dress you have hidden at the back of your closet.
Life is too short to not throw away all your plans and do what feels right.
Life is too short to not trust your instincts.
Life is too short to be afraid to start again.
Start that new life.
That new job.
That new relationship.
That new hobby.
Just because you want to.
Life is too short to not do what you want to do.
And if the worse happens,
just start again.
