Based on the classic piece of literature, Dante’s Inferno, we strive to create a piece of theatre that is not only entertaining, but will also have an impact on the people who watch it. We are motivated to ask the question of how people are living today and what type of society we are creating. We feel that the idea that people need to experience hardship or ‘hell’ in order to reach satisfaction and happiness ‘heaven’ is a universal message that everyone can relate to. By using the nine circles of Hell that Dante describes, we will discuss the ideas of personal responsibility for our actions and the results of the choices we make. We also want to explore the idea of how our individual decisions affect not only ourselves, but also our society and even our universe. We would like to share this message in hopes of getting people to think about what kind of life we are living and how we can become better people, not only for ourselves, but for our community, society and world.
